Lisa Zahiya – Hip Hop Dance

Lisa Zahiya is an innovative, award-winning dance performer, in-demand instructor and successful studio owner. Working in the genres of bellydance, Indian dance and urban dance, Lisa travels nationally and internationally teaching and performing.
Lisa is a alumni of the University of Maryland Dance Team and has a background in musical theater, jazz and hip hop. In 2008, her strong powerful style earned her the title “2008 Tribal Fusion Bellydancer of the Universe.” She continued on to win several more competitions. 
She has developed a fusion dance curriculum for a dance school in San Raphael, France and serves as guest faculty at Sahara Dance in Washington, DC.She is the adviser to several studios in the southwest including Bella Dance Studio in Spartanburg, SC. 
At home she is the owner and founder of Studio Zahiya, a boutique movement studio. Studio Zahiya is the winner of “Best Place to Take a Dance Class” 2013, 2014 and 2015. She also is faculty at UNCA Asheville, Warren Wilson College and Western North Carolina University.  She also served as an Ambassador for Lululemon Athletica, Asheville.

Lisa is also known for her work with children and women, using dance as a vehicle for change. Lisa serves as a Resident Artist with LEAF, is a Guest Dance Instructor with the Buncombe County School System. Additionally, she travels nationally teaching in school systems and for organizations that benefit children. Lisa has completed training in Developmental Assets and 21st Century Skills. She teaches at eating disorder recovery centers, and girls’ rehabilitation facility, helping women re-discover their bodies through movement.
Lisa is a certified Personal Trainer and is completing her training as a Life Coach.
