Hello to ALL of our beautiful LEAF Artists!! Below is some VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION for 2017.
LEAF Festival DATES & TIMES 2016: May 11-14, 2017 | October 19-22, 2017
DEADLINES & ACCEPTANCE NOTIFICATIONS:
Thank you to all who applied to be a part of LEAF Festival in 2017! We are now in the JURY PROCESS and are not longer accepting applications – will be notifying by March 7th (pleaes note date change)!
Applications for LEAF Festival 2018 will be available January 1st, 2018
LEAF Downtown AVL (Local Artist Only) – Applications become available starting May 25th with a deadline of June 28th, 2017 (Notified by June 30th). For more information please see: www.theleaf.org/downtown/
There is a $30 NON-REFUNDABLE APPLICATION FEE for a single festival application or you can apply for both the May (Spring) and October (Fall) festivals at once for a one-time fee of $50).
If accepted all correspondence will be sent via email.
All application fees are non-refundable, regardless of acceptance status.
Booth set-up times: Thurs. 9am-4pm OR Fri. 9am-3pm ONLY.
You are required to be fully set up by Friday at 4pm.
Expected Attendance: 6000 people per day.

Before you Apply: PLEASE READ ALL OF THE BELOW INFORMATION
ELIGIBILITY: This is a competitive, juried art & craft fair open to any artist or craftsperson. Interested artists must apply and be screened by the jury committee. Accepted artists must be present at the festival during booth operation hours Friday 4pm – Dusk, Saturday 9am – Dusk & Sunday 9am – 6pm. No retailers, agents, or representatives are allowed. LEAF festival stage events start Thursday at 6pm and end Sunday 6pm.
STANDARDS: All work must be original designs handcrafted by the participating artist. NO IMPORTS, FOOD, or SERVICES. (Henna & Face paint are ONLY exception). All work exhibited or performed must correspond in quality and represent the work presented in the application. No commercial kits or assembled items. No commercially cast plaster or clay. Any commercially produced components must play a subordinate role, be listed on the application, and may not be sold separately.
No manufactured retail products may be sold.
REGULATIONS: Artists who make more than one medium must submit images that represent each one. Joint applicants (business partners) must put both names on application and provide % of creative input for each. All applicants must comply with festival rules and regulations. Anyone using more than 3 assistants to produce work will be charged as a Misc. Vendor.
ASSISTANTS: Anyone accompanying the primary artist over the age of 9 including a partner is considered an assistant. One assistant ticket is included in the booth fee. Accepted exhibitors get one (1) artist badge and one (1) assistant ticket. A second assistant ticket is offered for advance purchase. Assistants MUST park in general parking and pay the parking fee upon arrival.
Display Spaces & Exhibitor Booth Fees
DISPLAY SPACES: Display spaces are 10’x10’. You MUST stay within that area unless specific approval is granted. All canopies and booth displays must present a professional, high quality exhibit and fit inside this size space. Exhibitors may apply for a maximum of 2 spaces side by side (no extra canopies behind booth unless you pay for the additional space). Only land is provided. No tables, chairs or electricity outlets are available. Exhibiting at night (lanterns are recommended) is encouraged and will increase sales. Locations are assigned by lottery and are final. Artists choose their own booth operation hours.
LOAD IN: Booths on field around Lakeside stage require that vendors cart all display items to booth location from nearby loading area. Other area options are available based on need. No cars on Lakeside stage field ever.
EXHIBITOR BOOTH FEES: The exhibitor fee of $425 per festival, per 10×10 space includes one principal artist admission, PLUS one weekend assistant ticket (partner artist, child over 9, or helper etc.). Free tent camping in general camping areas, and 1 parking space in VENDOR LOT are included. There is a non-refundable application of $30 for one festival or the special rate of $50 for both festivals.
Double Booths $860 ($1260 for Misc.) – These are very limited and require pre-approval. You receive one additional assistant ticket with this purchase.
Additional Store Front & Storage – We do have storage & store front options available for an additional fee.
Storage off the back of your booth is an additional $100 – this space cannot be used as a retail area. It is ok to use part of it as a changing area.
Store front space is an additional $200 – this area can be use for clothing racks, tables, signage etc so long as it is in good taste and respectful of your neighbors.
*Miscellaneous Vendors: Anything outside of Healing Arts, Food and Handcrafts GUIDELINES are considered Miscellaneous Vendors. This includes all vendors with Manufactured Items (Acceptance is very limited) & ArtTrucks. The Miscellaneous Vendor booth fee is $630 per festival. The same assistant ticketing rules apply. The same additional Store Front & Storage is available (See Above).
APPLICATION: Please Read Carefully!
To ensure fairness, diversity, and quality, a Jury Committee will screen all applicants.
All applicants must submit 5 digital images, via our website application system: 4 that best represent your current work, PLUS one of your booth display. These will be viewed by the jury and be judged based on QUALITY, ORIGINALITY, FESTIVAL APPEAL, and BOOTH PRESENTATION. Please note that physical slides, photos or CD’s will not be accepted. A qualified jury that changes annually will vote on applicants and acceptance will be based on highest scores and the number of spaces available.
File Format: Save all images as JPEG, TIFF or PNG
File Size: Each photo must be under 1 MB in size.
RGB Color space: Save images in an RGB color space, as the images will be shown on a monitor Images & marketing statements submitted may be used in promotional materials.
NOTIFICATION: Confirmation of Acceptance or Denial of Handcraft Applications will be delivered via E-mail. Decisions will not be given out over the phone. Payment will be due upon acceptance. LEAF reserves the right to deny any application without explanation.
WAITING LIST: There is an automatic waiting list for each festival. Artists are placed on the waiting list in order of next highest jury score. In the event of a cancellation, the Vendor Director will contact artists directly.
ACCOMMODATIONS: Tent camping is permitted in designated on-site areas. Some booths have space for a small 8×8 tent behind or use general camping on-site. 3 shower-houses are located in camp. Car Camping, Cabins and Bunks are available for a fee and must be reserved well in advance by purchasing online or calling (828) 686-8742.
